Institute of Management Accountants Club (IMA) Student Chapter
The AU IMA is a student chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, a worldwide professional organization that consists of more than 100,000 accounting and finance professionals — but you don’t have to be a student or a professional to join. We welcome anyone pursuing a career in accounting to attend our meetings and events, including members of the community beyond the AU campus.
Our chapter co-sponsors events with the Ohio Society of CPAs, which represents most certified public accountants in the state, including Financial Education Teaches Children Healthy Habits.

As an active member of the AU IMA, you will enhance your knowledge of business and accounting, expand your professional network and develop the professionalism and other soft skills and qualities you’ll need to succeed in your career.
- Enhanced Knowledge: As a member, you’ll attend regular meetings where you’ll discuss a wide range of business and accounting topics. Recent AU IMA meetings have focused on the content of the Certified Management Accountant and Certified Public Accountant exams, internal audits and best practices and strategies for networking at career fairs. You will not only gain technical knowledge, but also valuable and practical tips and insights.
- Networking Opportunities: At AU IMA meetings and sponsored career fairs, you will have ample opportunity to hone your networking skills and expand your network. You’ll interact with accountants and other business professionals, as well as peers, who may become valuable business connections in the future.
- Leadership Development: You can develop your leadership abilities and skills by serving in one of seven officer positions or one of several student representative positions for our chapter.

Delta Mu Delta is an international honor society established to recognize and reward superior scholastic achievement of students in business administration. Delta Mu Delta stands for the Greek phrase “Dia Matheseos Dynamis,” which means, “Through knowledge, power.” In this case, the power lies in management for social and economic good.
Delta Mu Delta was founded in 1913 by the dean from Harvard University, two professors from Yale University and two professors from New York University's School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance. Their purpose was to promote higher scholarship in education for business and to recognize and reward scholastic attainment in business courses. In 1963, Delta Mu Delta joined the Association of College Honor Societies, which recognizes and promotes academic excellence in higher education. The society established an affiliation with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) in 1992. This is the national accrediting body of Ashland University's undergraduate and graduate business programs.
The badge of the society is the key, symbolizing the key that unlocks the treasure of knowledge. It is in the form of the Greek letter Delta. On the front of the key appear the Greek initials of the society and above them is a full-rigged ship with sails set and colors flying. This ship symbolizes the activities of business and commerce.
Membership in Delta Mu Delta is only by invitation and the eligibility criteria are rigorous. To qualify for the invitation, you must have completed half of the requirements toward a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in business administration at the end of the spring semester of each academic year. If you are an undergraduate, in addition to having a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale, you must also be in the top 10% of your class. If you are a graduate student, you must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.80 and be in the top 10% of your class.
Students who meet the eligibility criteria will receive the invitation for lifetime membership in July. Completed applications are due in late August. The induction ceremony is held in the fall semester and personal attendance is mandatory.

The AU Human Resources (HR) Student Chapter
The AU HR Student Chapter is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest HR professional society, with 285,000 members in more than 165 countries. As a member of the student chapter, you can learn more about the field of human resources and gain the knowledge, skills and competencies you’ll need to be a successful HR professional.
You’ll attend regular meetings to discuss workforce readiness issues, legislative updates, diversity initiatives and HR research. HR professionals will occasionally attend meetings to share current issues and trends in the field and explain the significant impact that HR can have on organizations.
In addition to attending student chapter meetings, you’ll also:
- Take company tours
- Perform community service work
- Attend local SHRM-affiliated chapter meetings to learn from and network with HR professionals
- Meet with HR professionals in the fields of compensation, benefits, talent management, labor relations, organizational development and career and succession planning
- Compete in SHRM Case Competitions at the regional level (against other student chapter members from other states) and in the Ohio HR Games (against other Ohio student chapter members)
- Take a SHRM assessment to validate that you’ve acquired the appropriate knowledge to be a successful HR professional. This competency assessment could give you an advantage over other job seekers.

SHRM Professional Membership
Graduating SHRM student members may upgrade to a professional membership at a special discounted rate. This will extend the student’s membership for 12 months and grant immediate access to all of the professional member benefits provided by SHRM.
SHRM also offers two kinds of certification: Certified Professional and Senior Certified Professional. These two certifications test an individual’s human resources knowledge as well as measuring their demonstration and application of HR competencies. Obtaining one of these certifications demonstrates a professional’s mastery in the field of human resources.

Our mission is to facilitate access to hands-on experiences in the fashion industry. We do this for fashion merchandising students — and students who are simply interested in the fashion world — by hosting social and professional events and activities in which students can express and improve upon their fashion-related skills. For students in fashion classes, we also organize a trip to New York City so that fashion merchandising students can explore first-hand one of the biggest fashion capitals in the world.
In addition, we take social action to raise awareness and support for worthwhile organizations such as the Make a Wish Foundation and organizations whose purpose is to come to the aid of people experiencing domestic abuse and/or poverty. To that end, we work with the other on-campus organizations such as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and each fall hold a clothing drive, donating the proceeds to one of these organizations.

Eagle Investment Group
Since we began in 2010, our mission has been to help the next generation of investors become ready to invest in a changing world. To facilitate that, we strive to give our members real-world investing experience while still within a controlled environment.
How It Works
Our world-class investment program has one of the largest student-managed endowments of all the student investment groups nationwide. That allows us to give finance majors the chance to invest real money and therefore gain real, applicable investing experience.
Benefits of Joining
As a member, you will be able to:
- Perform real-world stock and portfolio analysis using advanced analytic tools and databases
- Collaborate with your peers in making real-life decisions to manage our portfolio of approximately $2 million and, if you choose, to follow the corresponding asset management or corporate finance track in your finance program
- Receive mentoring from AU faculty and visiting professionals who share their knowledge, experience, successes and failures
- Attend monthly networking events that will give you the chance to line up internships or even full-time employment
- Annually in the spring, travel with the group to New York City to tour various investing firms, talk to those who invest for a living and make connections that would otherwise be nearly impossible.
What’s more, the cumulative benefit of participating in these activities is to graduate with a Bloomberg terminal certification, prepared to take the series 7 certification exams for stockbrokers and dealers as required by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. You will also be well on your way to becoming a Certified Financial Planner or a Certified Public Accountant.

This club originated at Ashland University in 2010 to showcase the sport industry and provide members with pathways into the industry. We have three distinct goals:
- To enhance the cultural, intellectual, social and recreational aspects of AU’s sport management students
- To facilitate communication between our members and various professional organizations
- To sponsor programs that will benefit sport management students and the AU student body

The Association of Supply Chain Management (ASCM) Student Chapter
The ASCM Student Chapter (formerly APICS) is affiliated with ASCM, the leading professional association for supply chain and operations management. ASCM is also the premier provider of research, education and certification programs that elevate supply chain excellence, innovation and resilience.
As a member of the student chapter, you’ll attend regular meetings to learn about current topics and developing trends in supply chain management (SCM) from guest speakers who are SCM professionals. You’ll also:
